What began as a modest supper club in a small London flat has grown into a thriving culinary education company serving food lovers across the United Kingdom. Our journey reflects a simple belief: that cooking well should be accessible to everyone, regardless of experience or background.
The Beginning
In 2019, our founder Sarah Mitchell started hosting informal cooking evenings for friends who wanted to learn the basics. Word spread quickly. Within months, those gatherings had transformed into structured workshops, and energo-stream was officially born.
Sarah's background combined formal culinary training with years of home cooking experience. She understood both the professional techniques that make restaurant food exceptional and the practical constraints of everyday home kitchens. This dual perspective became the cornerstone of our teaching philosophy.
Our Teaching Philosophy
We reject the notion that cooking is merely about following instructions. While recipes provide useful starting points, true culinary confidence comes from understanding principles. When you know why onions are caramelised slowly or why certain herbs are added at the end of cooking, you gain the ability to adapt and improvise.
Each of our sessions balances practical technique with underlying theory. We demonstrate, explain, and then guide participants through hands-on practice. Mistakes are not failures but valuable learning moments that deepen understanding.
Our Team
Our instructors bring diverse culinary backgrounds spanning French classical training, Mediterranean home cooking traditions, Asian cuisines, and contemporary plant-based cookery. This variety ensures that whatever your interests, we have someone who can guide you with genuine expertise and enthusiasm.
Beyond technical skills, all our team members share a crucial quality: patience. We remember what it felt like to learn and approach every participant with empathy and encouragement.
